Hopiate of the masses

Wish I could take credit for the clever title, but I stole it from the People’s Cube.

Liberals just can’t understand why we on the Right mock them for their cult of the Obamessiah, or given his now confirmed Muslim upbringing, perhaps we should be calling him the Obamahdi.

They just don’t get it. Just for s*its and giggles, take a look at film maker Spike Lee, who says the election of the Hopiate will actually be a messianic calendar time divide , AB and BB. Yes, “After” and “Before” Barry.

You can’t make this stuff up.

Is Barack Obama a Muslim?

Does it matter?

This registration document, made available on Jan. 24, 2007, by the Fransiskus Assisi school in Jakarta, Indonesia, shows the registration of Barack Obama under the name Barry Soetoro into the Catholic school made by his step-father, Lolo Soetoro. The document lists Barry Soetoro as a Indonesian citizen, born on August 4, 1961 in Honolulu, and shows his Muslim step-father listed the boy’s religion as Islam.(AP Photo/ Tatan Syuflana)

So, what do you think? Is he a Muslim? His step-father certainly thought so.

Does it matter? I would find it difficult to believe that anyone who has been even half-awake for the last seven years wouldn’t agree that it matters. It matters a lot.

McCain, Obama react to Georgia-Russia conflict

Presidential candidates John McCain and Barack Obama gave their opinions today on the current conflict between Russia and Georgia, both expressing their hopes for a cease-fire and a negotiated settlement.

McCain … believes NATO’s North Atlantic Council should convene an emergency session to demand a cease-fire, and begin talking about a peacekeeping force for South Ossetia.

Obama thinks the U.N. Security Council should pass a resolution calling for an immediate end to the violence. He also thinks a U.N. mediator should join efforts to try to end the fighting. source

I suppose someone forgot to tell Mr. Obama that Russia is a permanent member of the UN Security Council, with full veto power over any resolution.

He must be exhausted, lugging around that giant brain all the time.

The “O” Salute left me wondering, “Where have I seen that before?”

Big hat-tip to n2l (via Gateway Pundit) for providing the answer: Trekkies will recognize the salute as a rip-off from “The Way To Eden”.

Obama plagiarizes Star Trek

Obama plagiarizes Star Trek

In this episode, a group of space hippies are in search of Utopian Bliss in a world known as “Eden.” All the cool space hippies use the “O” salute. And if you ain’t cool, you’re a “herbert.”

Their search for Utopia ends tragically, but as all good liberals know, the end results don’t matter as long as your intentions are good.

The Obama candidacy is turning into a bad joke, a Disneyesque re-creation of the worst of the 60’s.

Update: Man, talk about overconfidence.

A recurring theme for this soon-to-be triple-digit, steamy, southern Summer weekend ….

You Can’t Fix Stupid (Part 1)

“Despite the devastation hurricanes Katrina and Rita wrought on Louisiana in 2005, a large number of coastal residents still say they would refuse to evacuate if another hurricane zeroes in on the state, a Harvard University survey shows.”

You Can’t Fix Stupid (St. Pancake edition)

Moonbats attempt to break Gaza blockade … “Taking the protest against the Gaza blockade to a new level, two boats packed with foreign left-wing activists will attempt to sail from Cyprus to the sealed Gaza harbor in two weeks’ time.

The operation is being directed by members of the International Solidarity Movement and the Israeli Commission against House Demolitions.”

You Can’t Fix Stupid (Obamessiah edition) … Barry Soetoro’s global wealth redistribution plan, S.2433, has been placed on the Senate Legislative Calendar for pending debate.

“Cliff Kincaid at Accuracy in Media has published a critique asserting that while the Global Poverty Act sounds nice, the adoption could “result in the imposition of a global tax on the United States” and would make levels “of U.S. foreign aid spending subservient to the dictates of the UN.”

You Cant Fix Stupid (Paleo edition) … “

The Palestinian Authority has come up with yet another wild accusation about Israel. Two PA newspapers – one directly controlled by the office of PA President Mahmoud Abbas – are accusing Israel of releasing rats with supernatural qualities to chase away the Arab residents of Jerusalem.
According to the PA papers, the Israeli-Jerusalem rat is:
1. Immune to rat poison;
2. Aggressive and larger than usual;
3. Unafraid of cats and able to scare them away;
4. Highly fertile — female rat gives birth to 140 babies a year, four times the normal average;
5. Highly selective — Jewish residents of Jerusalem apparently are not affected by these rats.

You Can’t Fix Stupid (UN Edition)
… UN tells Brits, “you must be nicer to Muslims … “Britain was told yesterday by a United Nations committee to take firm action to combat ‘negative public attitudes’ towards Muslims.

The nine-member human rights committee also criticised some of the UK’s antiterror measures.

The body, which is composed of legal experts, said it was concerned ‘ negative public attitudes towards Muslim members of society’ continued to develop in Britain.”

It is a complete mystery to me why anyone might have a “negative attititude” towards Muslims. /s

Itza Shokka! … Media Favors Dems 100-1

“The contributions of individuals who reported being employed by major media organizations are listed in the nearby table. (Click To Enlarge)

The contributions add up to $315,533 to Democrats and $22,656 to Republicans — most of that to Ron Paul, who was supported by many liberals as a stalking horse to John McCain, a la Rush Limbaugh’s Operation Chaos with Hillary and Obama.

What is truly remarkable about the list is that, discounting contributions to Paul and Rudy Giuliani, who was a favorite son for many folks in the media, the totals look like this: $315,533 to Democrats, $3,150 to Republicans (four individuals who donated to McCain).

Itza Shokka! (Part 2) Guess Who? Hint: They probably used their supernatural rats in this operation … Hizbullah convoy likely hit in Iran … “A mysterious explosion in a suburb of Teheran that killed 15 people last Saturday was likely an attack on a Iranian military convoy carrying arms to Hizbullah, the Telegraph reported Friday.

The Iranian Revolutionary Guards imposed a news black-out immediately after the blast, but the UK newspaper reported that it looked like sabotage was responsible for destroying the convoy as it traveled through Khavarshahar.

Bits and Pieces… “just buying gas that others won’t buy” … Gas and diesel prices at less than $3/gal? Yup, and a lot of Texicans are taking advantage…

“The cross-border commerce is raising the ire of some Mexican fuel consumers in Juarez; they don’t like the idea of U.S. consumers taking advantage of fuel prices kept artificially low courtesy of their own tax dollars.”

Speaking of the Mexican border, I don’t know how I missed this … “Last week, columnist Paul Weyrich reported that there is credible evidence that Osama bin Laden has acquired twenty suitcase-sized nuclear bombs from Chechen rebels in the former Soviet Union and smuggled them into the United States by way of the Mexican border.”

The Obama Record

On the evening he won the Democratic Party’s presumptive nomination for president, Barack Obama spoke from St. Paul, Minnesota. In the early portion of his remarks, Obama pointed to the upcoming GOP Convention in St. Paul, and the head of the ticket, John McCain:

In just a few short months, the Republican Party will arrive in St. Paul with a very different agenda. They will come here to nominate John McCain, a man who has served this country heroically. I honor that service, and I respect his many accomplishments, even if he chooses to deny mine. My differences with him are not personal; they are with the policies he has proposed in this campaign.

I emphasized that particular line because, as I listened to the speech, I was struck by his apparent sensitivity to his own record of “accomplishments”, or lack thereof. It does make one wonder how he could take offense to his opponent’s lack of familiarity with said record when even his staunch supporters are unaware of the same. This video is from a few weeks ago on Chris Matthews’ show.

One paragraph of his speech that has received little scrutiny deals with the government school program:

And maybe if he spent some time in the schools of South Carolina or St. Paul or where he spoke tonight in New Orleans, he’d understand that we can’t afford to leave the money behind for No Child Left Behind; that we owe it to our children to invest in early childhood education; to recruit an army of new teachers and give them better pay and more support; to finally decide that in this global economy, the chance to get a college education should not be a privilege for the wealthy few, but the birthright of every American. That’s the change we need in America. That’s why I’m running for president.

So, an Obama Administration would seek to become intimately involved in the hiring process of local school districts, and guarantee a college degree for all comers. I mean, how else can you look at that paragraph?

I suppose that after struggling mightily to pay for a college education for my children for the past half decade, being told by Obama that our personal sacrifice is some kind of privilege reserved for the “wealthy few” truly sticks in my gizzard. It also shows just how out of touch this liberal populist is with the millions of Americans who go about their daily business, seldom complaining, paying their taxes, and keeping their collective noses to the grindstone.

And, as Mrs. Nuke and I begin to see the light at the end of the financial tunnel, instead of being proud of our children and their academic achievements, balancing part-time jobs with full class loads, and feeling a warm sense of accomplishment of getting through the college money pit, Obama insists that we should instead feel guilty, that our efforts are not only unappreciated, but the result of being part of a “privileged few.”

What a jerk.

Kentucky Blowout

Hillary Clinton opened a giant-sized can of W.A. on Barack H. Obama tonight in the Kentucky Democratic Primary. It’s hard to imagine how the Obama campaign can spin any type of positive message coming out of the Bluegrass State, as their hopes now are hanging on a large margin of victory in Oregon.

Even though BHO expects to earn enough delegate votes to put him over the top tonight, his loss of momentum, and the growing negative perception of his viability as the presumptive Democrat nominee is troubling to many voters. Suffering another West Virginia-style drubbing, especially among white voters, Obama simply cannot put Hillary away.

With 90% of the votes in, Clinton has a whopping 35 point lead.

CNN reports some interesting exit polls, which suggest a bitter divide between the two camps.

Two-thirds of Clinton’s supporters there said they would vote Republican or not vote at all rather than for Obama, according to the polls.

Forty-one percent of Clinton supporters said they’d cast their vote for John McCain, the presumptive Republican nominee, and 23 percent said they would not vote at all.

Just 33 percent said they would back Obama in the general election, according to the polls.

Those numbers are even worse for Obama than in West Virginia one week ago, where 36 percent of Clinton voters said they would back him in the fall.

Obama refuses to release his birth certificate

In an attempt to put to rest the persistent rumor that Barry Soetoro, aka Barak Hussein Obama’s real name isn’t Barak Hussein Muhhamed Obama, the St. Pete Times published this interesting paragraph…

We tried to obtain a copy of Obama’s birth certificate, but his campaign would not release it and the state of Hawaii does not make such records public.

St. Pete Times’ effort to put to rest the rumors about Obama have raised more questions than they have answered….

Why won’t Obama release his birth certificate?

What is he trying to hide?

More……. I went to Walmart today and finished replacing all of the food items that the Mrs. and I donated to the food bank last month. Got to watch those expiration dates on the food items.

I also got a couple of solar-powered lanterns for $15 ea. I haven’t seen those before. I’ve been looking for a battery charger with a hand-crank to put in my emergency kit, and one that will charge a cell phone, but I haven’t found one yet. Might check e-bay.

The DHS recommends that every household maintain food and water for a week’s worth of self-sufficiency. I really can’t figure why anyone would have any less than that. Katrina’s aftermath kind of changed my thinking on doing more than just thinking about self-sufficiency, and actually doing the necessary things to fend for ourselves.

Interestingly enough, DHS has recommended that hospitals maintain sufficient supplies of food, water and meds to fend for themselves for up to 90 days. Ninety days! I dare say very few hospitals have enough storage space to keep that much food, water, and generator fuel on hand. In this day of “just in time” inventory management, it is asking a lot for our community hospitals to allocate resources to purchase that quantity of supplies. By the same token, I can’t imagine why the government would ask them to do so if there weren’t a real probability of the day coming when this type of preparation would be necessary. I told Mrs. Nuke that if 90 days was good enough for the hospital, it was good enough for us too.

My bro-in-law gave me a food dehydrator that he had in storage. I’m going to try my hand at making jerky next week. Maybe some banana chips, too. Any of y’all ever used one of these thingamajigs before?
