In fact, AP writer Julie Davis describes it as, “Sotomayor pushes back hard.”
Isn’t that special?
Sotomayor even told the Senators that she is no gun-grabbing extremist, adding that “one of her godchildren is a member of the National Rifle Association and she has friends who hunt.”
That should satisfy even the most hard-core, bitter-clingers. Not.
Actually, I wasn’t aware that the GOP had been pushing Sotomayor at all…. Jabbing a bit, maybe, but as always, refusing to throw a body punch.
Certainly nothing like Sen Biden’s slimy example of hackery during the Clarence Thomas hearings.
It’s simply unexplainable to me. Even when an opportunity arises to land the mother-of-all haymakers, (Orrin Hatch questions Ruth Ginsberg), the punches are pulled up short. Why?
Sen Hatch laid out his outline in yesterday’s NRO. Given his reasoning, there should be no way that Sotomayor is allowed a pass on her “some of my best friends are hunters” non-response.
No way at all.
The Senate confirmation process has been politicized by the Left for decades. Opposing the Sotomayor nomination should require no more depth of thought than the fluffernuttery expressed by then-Senator Obama in opposing Justices Roberts and Alito. Unfortunately, the GOP seems browbeaten by the prospects of being loudly called racists, seemingly intimidated by community organizer thug tactics.
To Senator Sessions and the GOP – Play the game. Their tactics only work against those who are afraid to stand on principle.
Call their Alinsky, and raise them Sun Tzu.
You will see that opportunities multiply as they are seized.

I still think Graham will be the only Republican, and the only one needed, in the judiciary committee to vote yea, and send her nomination to the Senate floor.
I hope I’m wrong, and she remains stuck in the committee.
Graham is such a dissapointment
He made some remark about his upcoming election, and the hispanic vote in his state.
A tell.
Hunh. The hispanic population that he is worried about in his state would be illegal.
Also telling.
I watched a good bit of her comfermation hearing yesterday. It was sicking! More time spent talking about how much they respected her and how great her story, than there were questions asked. It was almost as if they were sucking her ass. No, they were sucking her ass. Her big fat robot sounding ass.
