It seems like a long time ago.
In the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, a group of folks began to assemble at a new website: Gulf Coast Pundit. We did so at the request of the owner of the blog which will not be named, who specifically requested that we take our discussions off his website.
The infamous Katrina Relief Fund, and the equally infamous Steve, aka “Bayou King”, aka a half-dozen other sockpuppets, dominated the early discussions.
Several months later, the owner of the previously mentioned blog began the modern era of bannings. I call this the modern era, because I wasn’t around during the Discarded Lies wars, and, because it was the GCP purge that began the most recent round of bannings, giving rise to the moniker “Banned of Brothers.”
My, how time flies.
Robert D posted a comment on the totus thread which told the news: “Looks like GCP is a goner.” At the website link was the following comment:
“We wish you all a happy and fruitful life. Gulfcoastpundit is now closed.”
Dang.

I think we’re back to the el nino around here. Had some hot days (100 degrees) for about 2 weeks. Now it’s rain, t-storms and 70-80. I like it! Of course when I head back to work it will jump back to the 100’s.
Well, I usually get 4 or 5 hours, so it WAS a surprise to me. Maybe all that stress I was under the past few months caught up with me.
Heh. Maybe it will last until you get back to work.
It’s been unseasonably cool here as well, but I ain’t complainin’.

Nuke, daughter’s heatpump/A/C went out AND mom’s as well. Daughter bought a slightly used unit (probably sold from a repoed house) and paid $900 for it and the installation. Mom bought a new one for $4,500.
mine is only 5 years old. I spent boo koo bucks for a top of the line Carrier system. One for the uostairs, one for downstairs.
The downstairs compressor went out. Five years (and two months) old. Full warranty expired at five years.
Ooooooooh, sorry to hear that. Mine is @ 20 years old.
‘Course, in that 20 years, we’ve probably replaced the compressor twice. It didn’t cost us beaucoup bucks, though.

Thanks, Guys. Having started the thread, I feel somewhat a part of the reason Admin exploded. As I’ve mentioned, I e-mailed Admin and apologized for any problem I might have caused.
GCP folks are a great bunch of folks. Sorry to see this happen.
It doesn’t matter who “started” the thread, and I honestly think we could have survived the topic had it not been for us accused “Jihadis” who couldn’t muster-up any sympathy for the “good doctor”.
And yes, GCPers were/are among the finest folks I’ve had the privilege to be associated with.
For that I thank each and every one, Admin included, for the honor.

It sounded like this was aimed at the people here. Most everyone here was regrouping to see what to do next. Admin was the only one responsible for picking up the ball and going home.
No offense intended to anyone…other than to Admin, if it is truly as simple as I said.
