The Friday Edition:  Stories I’m following ………

Here are two stories that seem to go together quite well. ROPMA.

The U.N. Human Rights Council approved a proposal backed by Muslim nations Thursday urging the passage of laws around the world protecting religion from criticism. Link

A TEENAGE girl was burned to death at her home in India in an “honour killing” by neighbours.

Four residents of her village in Ghaziabad, north India, allegedly set the 16-year-old Muslim girl alight after they suspected her of having a relationship with a boy.  Police claim residents kept a vigil on her house as they noticed the boy visited her frequently when her father was away. The four men then beat her, doused her with kerosene and set her on fire. Link

Vietnam vet unveils new project to honor the fallen …  Here’s an example …  Link

“‘Dear Dad, I’m sorry it took so long but when you went away I was 8 years old and I couldn’t understand why you never came back to us. I’m now 35 and I can understand now as I have fought in two wars myself. It’s not much fun, it it? You might like to know that you have three grandchildren, two girls and a boy, and they all know about you. It meant a lot to me to see your name on The Wall with all the others. Your loving son, Paul.’”

More unveiling … Obama unveils his “stronger, smarter” strategy for Afghanistan. Let’s just hope that is is better than the wicked-smart surrender strategy for Iraq that launched his presidential campaign.

“I want the American people to understand that we have a clear and focused goal: to disrupt, dismantle and defeat the Taleban and al-Qaeda.”

Michelle Malkin reports a “curious” departure from Treasury …

The acting director of the Office of Thrift Supervision has been put on leave pending a review of the agency’s role in the backdating of capital infusions by some banks, the agency said Thursday evening.

OTS said in a surprise statement that Scott Polakoff, who has been serving as acting director of the OTS, would be replaced by OTS Chief Counsel John Bowman during the review by the Treasury Department.

I watched the news footage of the Red River flooding this morning.    Man against nature, no contest. Nature wins.

Residents in this city of 92,000 had been scrambling in subfreezing temperatures to pile sandbags along the river and spent much of Thursday preparing for a crest of 41 feet, only to have forecasters late in the day add up to 2 feet to their estimate.

The National Weather Service said in its follow-up statement that the Red was expected to crest between 41 and 42 feet by Saturday, but could reach 43 feet. It said water levels could remain high for three days to a week.

The first estimate sparked urgency among thousands of volunteers in Fargo. The second shook their spirits.

Look up “stupid” in the dictionary. If there’s not a picture of Michael Vick, then there ought to be …

CNBC reports that “The U.S. Department of Labor filed complaints Wednesday accusing suspended NFL star Michael Vick of illegally spending about $1.3 million in pension plan funds for his own benefit, including paying restitution ordered in his dog-fighting conspiracy case.”

The Labor Department accuses Vick of illegally transferring money out of the pension plan for MV7, his marketing company that covered nine current and former employees.

Have you seen the video of Daniel Hannan? He’s the member of Parliament who gave a major B-slap to PM Gordon Brown.  Here is the Link.

Oh, You want that stamp on your face or on your hand? Link

US Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner shocked global markets by revealing that Washington is “quite open” to Chinese proposals for the gradual development of a global reserve currency run by the International Monetary Fund.

  4. Jihadis May Be Freed In USA…

Some of these pig-eatin’ thugs may be released in the United States of America. You can thank President Obama and AG Eric Holder. Some others may face a trial as criminals instead of warring enemies. If this is the case, the gov’t has a greater burde…

  5. RE: The UN defending islamofascists,

Lib stupidity is astounding. Their denial of reality never ceases to amaze me. I wonder if they would cling to their irrational beliefs if a woman was beaten and set of fire on their front lawn? They’d probably say that it was because of hate and discrimination against Islam! They’ll cling to their stupidity until the blade starts cutting through their necks.

  6. you’re so right.

And, speaking of lib stupidity (redundant, I know), here is our wicked-smart secretary of state, in Mexico ….

During her recent visit to Mexico, U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton made an unexpected stop at the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe and left a bouquet of white flowers “on behalf of the American people,” after asking who painted the famous image.

The image of Our Lady of Guadalupe was miraculously imprinted by Mary on the tilma, or cloak, of St. Juan Diego in 1531. The image has numerous unexplainable phenomena, such as the appearance on Mary’s eyes of those present in the room when the tilma was opened and the image’s lack of decay.

Mrs. Clinton was received on Thursday at 8:15 a.m. by the rector of the Basilica, Msgr. Diego Monroy.

Msgr. Monroy took Mrs. Clinton to the famous image of Our Lady of Guadalupe, which had been previously lowered from its usual altar for the occasion.

After observing it for a while, Mrs. Clinton asked “who painted it?” to which Msgr. Monroy responded “God!”

It’s going to be a long 4 years.

    • Indeed. They said “W” got the world ticked at us. Hillbillary will just travel their world insulting their cultures!

      • Hillary at Our Lady of Guadalupe shrine…..
        “Who painted it.”
