The price of this politically correct refusal to confront the ugly realities of the Islamic link to honor killing will be, quite simply, more honor killings. No one will call upon Islamic groups to do something about this practice. No special scrutiny will be focused upon Muslims in the United States, or any studies undertaken about how honor killings can be prevented. No one will examine the question of unrestricted Muslim immigration in light of this problem. While learned analysts search for clues in South Asian cultural habits and the practices of European royalty, more young women will be murdered by their Muslim fathers, husbands, and brothers to cleanse their family’s honor. You can stop playing the “straw man” card, no one is buying it. Firstly, “Christian on Christian” violence as you describe it is misrepresented. It isn’t because of their religious beliefs that one man punches out another man at a bar, or that one man kills another man for sleeping with his wife, so let’s stop pretending. What we had here was a murder done in accordance with the cultural/religious practices of Islam. The woman stepped out of line, “dishonoured” her husband by filing for divorce, she had to be punished. That is what happened, and while we aren’t blaming all Muslims for it, we are blaming beliefs still held by many within the Muslim community.

I don’t care what has happened previously in that family, especially since domestic violence knows no ethnicity or creed, but I will say that the majority of abusive spouses in MY country don’t go around chopping their partner’s heads off. How dare you spin this conversation into some perverse attack on us for pointing out the obvious? When these “honour killings” become a fairly common occurrence within a specific religious community, don’t try to say that it isn’t because of that faith. We all know how women are treated in Islam, don’t think we are new to this.
