There are always crime waves in economic down turns.
If this cycle is much worse than others, or is prolonged, the level of crime will rise precipitously.
Talked with an old bud tonight, on his way back from bagging a buck near Abilene, and one of the businesses he owns/co-owns in our old home town, is a pawn shop. He not only has run out of every semi-auto rifle he had, he can’t get any, and he is selling as many guns in a week as he used to every one or two months.
Now, the vast majority of those folks are looking to protect themselves, but if the economy continues to skid, some of those folks will be effected, and may feel the need to feed their families, or themselves, exceeds the risk of becoming a criminal.
I’ve got to go to a gun show with my oldest bruh this weekend, he is looking for an assault rifle chambered for the .308Winchester. I’ve already told him to expect a limited supply, with prices exceeding fifteen hundred. He also is looking for another handgun.
Unitl a year ago, he had no firearms.
If there is to be blood in the streets, much of it will be from those attempting crime.
Thank God we don’t have the civil unrest they had in the 1920′s, when the veterans marched on Washington, and their shanty-towns were plowed over by tanks.

SwampMan and I were discussing it earlier. He’s afraid that everything is going to break down and there will be a lot of hungry, desperate people out there that don’t have the first idea about how to hunt, fish, or garden.

I hope not, but it would be prudent to plan for it just in case.
