Let the disarmament begin

Early in his campaign, Barack Obama pledged to end missile defense. He made a video stating the goal quite clearly.

Perhaps the wishful thinkers who have been telling us that Obama would govern as a centrist might want to provide an interpretation of the latest weasel words of the preznit-elect, from the Beeb,

US President-elect Barack Obama has not given a commitment to go ahead with plans to build part of a US missile defence system in Poland, an aide says.

He was speaking after Polish President Lech Kaczynski’s office said a pledge had been made during a phone conversation between the two men.

But Mr Obama’s foreign policy adviser, Denis McDonough, denied this.

Russia opposes the US scheme and has announced plans to deploy missiles on Poland’s border as a counter-measure.

“His position is as it was throughout the campaign, that he supports deploying a missile defence system when the technology is proved to be workable,” said McDonough.

I think it’s important to note that the preznit-elect didn’t sit down with the Polish leader without any preconditions. He did it by telephone. And, he’s not an enemy, he’s an ally, so screwing them over is perfectly acceptable. Plus, this ought to make the Rooskies love us. What could be more important than that.

Besides, the Poles sent troops to Iraq. The bastids deserve to be punished.

Sheesh.

Hello, Republican Party? Sharpen up your rhetoric and get in the game, please.

  1. This at a time when Russia is lustfully eyeballing many of it’s former captive states, such as Ukraine.
B-HO has gotten one big boy DIA briefing so far. If he is doing nothing else, he is emboldening Russia. I doubt B-HO has ever played a game of checkers, much less chess.

  2. FYI, the We The People Foundation will be running this ad the week of 10 Nov, in USA Today.

  3. Good luck raising the additional $85,000 for that ad in the next 12 hours. I look forward to reading it.

  4. A newspaper ad is so 20th century.
One of these days, Repubs are going to wake up.
In fact, we have talked about it for a couple of years.

FYI: The best article I’ve seen dealing with it is here

$85,000 would be nice for a one-shot b-slap….. but for a lasting impact, a viral youtube video would cost less, reach a wider audience, and have a long-lasting effect.
