More Clinton funny money

When he left the White House in 2000, Bill Clinton reported assets of more than $1 million and legal fees of more than $2.4 million. In his wife’s most recent disclosure, Hillary Clinton reported that the couple now has a net worth estimated at between $17.4 million and $53.7 million.

Both now claim to be uneasy about their place among the richest Americans. This “new experience,” Hillary Clinton said during a debate Oct. 30, isn’t “one that makes us very comfortable.”

Bloomberg is reporting that the Clintons aren’t very comfortable about the reports of Bill’s dealings with California gozillionaire Ron Burkle……

Securities and Exchange Commission documents and financial- disclosure forms filed by Hillary Clinton show that Bill Clinton, 61, has a financial stake in three investment entities registered in the Cayman Islands by Burkle’s Yucaipa Cos. LLC.

In 2004, Hillary Clinton, a New York senator, said she wanted to “close the loopholes” for “people who create a mailbox, or a drop, or send one person to sit on the beach in some island paradise and claim that it is their offshore headquarters.”

The former president’s possible decision to move away from Burkle “is all tied up with the laws of appearance and the politics of perception,” said Linda Fowler, professor of government at Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire. “The world being what it is, people are attracted to the spouse of somebody with political power. The level of potential conflict is just that much higher with a former president and a senator who would be president.”

Moreover, added Fowler, “with this particular couple, somehow, the whole story doesn’t come out except in dribs and drabs.”     link

Drips and drabs. A familiar Clinton story.

As Crusty the Clown would say…”that’s a lot of kablinkie!”

  4. I just hope the Clintons never catch on to what they do every time they open their mouth lately.

“Well, the first thing she intends to do, because you can do this without passing a bill, the first thing she intends to do is to send me and former President Bush and a number of other people around the world to tell them that America is open for business and cooperation again,” Clinton said in response to a question from a supporter about what his wife’s “number one priority” would be as president.

    Here’s Bush the elder’s response.

But George H.W. Bush’s Chief of Staff Jean Becker released a statement Tuesday saying he and Clinton have made no such plans – even though the two have grown close through charity work since their 1992 presidential election match up.

“Former President Bush wholeheartedly supports the president of the United States, including his foreign policy. He has never discussed an ‘around -the-world mission’ with either former President Bill Clinton or Sen. Clinton, nor does he think such a mission is warranted since he is proud of the role America continues to play around the world as the beacon of home for freedom and democracy,” Becker said. “President Bush is excited about several of the excellent Republican candidates running for President, and looks forward to supporting their candidacy once the Republican nominee is determined.”

They seem to think they can say anything and won’t get called on it.
