UPS Pilot Raped 20 young boys.
ATLANTA — A pilot from Washington state was arrested in Atlanta this week on charges he sexually assaulted at least 20 boys at his home over a six-year period and videotaped much of the abuse.
Police and FBI agents arrested Weldon Marc Gilbert, 47, in Atlanta on Thursday and charged him with nine sex crimes, including child rape, child molestation and sexual exploitation of a minor. The Lake Tapps, Wash., resident and pilot for the United Parcel Service was in jail in Atlanta late Friday awaiting extradition to Washington.
Pierce County, Wash., sheriff’s spokesman Ed Troyer said more charges are likely. Police are reviewing more than 100 videotapes and DVDs found at Gilbert’s home, many of which contain “very disturbing graphic images,” Troyer said.
“We just started looking through the tapes, and we’ve already seen 20 different victims,” Troyer told The News Tribune in Tacoma, Wash. “Kids are crying out for help and in pain in some of the videos.”
Hillary Campaign hits a speed bump
Mrs. Clinton flip-flopped within the space of two minutes on whether she supported or opposed giving driver’s licenses to illegal immigrants, and her opponents called her on it.
We’re now likely “to see clips of that meandering response show up in attack ads for the rest of the race,” said David Yepsen of the Des Moines Register.
… it could spell big trouble in the general election. Pollster Scott Rasmussen reported a shocking result from a recent poll. In a head-to-head match-up with Libertarian fruitcake Ron Paul, Mrs. Clinton drew just 48 percent of the vote. …
“When we polled among people who knew who Ron Paul is, she got 48 percent of the vote,” Mr. Rasmussen said. “When we polled among people who didn’t know who Ron Paul is, she got 48 percent of the vote.”
Solar array repaired, re-deployed
Physician-astronaut Scott Parazynski, working on the end of a boom carried by the space station’s robot arm, successfully repaired a mangled solar array today, cutting away a snarled guidewire, installing five suture-like braces and then standing by while his crewmates extended the array its full 110-foot length.
Working with deliberate care, astronaut Dan Tani, sending commands from a computer inside the shuttle-station complex, extended the array’s central mast a half bay at a time, stopping and letting Parazynski assess the health of the repairs as tension slowly built up on the just-installed braces.
Demise of the Religious Right?
The cover story of Sunday’s New York Times Magazine pronounced the demise of the religious right in America. The ranks are demoralized, split, and liberal evangelicals are taking over with a new agenda for the environment and the poor. On the editorial page, the acerbic Frank Rich coordinated his column with the magazine, concluding, “Inauguration Day 2009 is at the very least Armageddon for the reigning ayatollahs of the American right.”
Wow! Just three years ago the press touted conservative evangelicals as the most powerful voting block in America. What happened?
Nothing. The press is up to its old tricks. When I was in the White House, the press heralded me as Nixon’s brilliant political strategist. Then within a year, once having built me up, I was called the “White House hatchet man” and a lot worse. The press loves to create monsters, build them up, and then take credit for slaying them. It sells papers.
Hillary is the McCarthy Anti-warrior
Senator Clinton is describing her opposition to the war in Iraq as an extension of Eugene McCarthy’s position in the 1960s movement against the war in Vietnam.
Mrs. Clinton’s comments came at an energy-charged rally yesterday at her alma mater, Wellesley College. Her visit, the ostensible purpose of which was to announce a new Web site aimed at younger voters, hillblazers.com, created palpable excitement on campus. Hundreds of students lined up amid Wellesley’s autumnal splendor for a chance to hear the speech of the 1969 graduate and then moved and bopped to the strands of Smash Mouth’s “I’m a Believer” and the Police’s “Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic” as they awaited her appearance.
Hillary! Uncensored goes on sale Monday
Dont miss it.
We need to get those negatives up to about 60%.
Actually, we don’t have to do much, she does it all by herself.
Thousands returing to safer Bagdhad (h/t Robt D)
BAGHDAD — In a dramatic turnaround, more than 3,000 Iraqi families driven out of their Baghdad neighborhoods have returned to their homes in the past three months as sectarian violence has dropped, the government said Saturday.
Saad al-Azawi, his wife and four children are among them. They fled to Syria six months ago, leaving behind what had become one of the capital’s more dangerous districts — west Baghdad’s largely Sunni Khadra region.
The family had been living inside a vicious and bloody turf battle between Al Qaeda in Iraq and Mahdi Army militiamen. But Azawi said things began changing, becoming more peaceful, in August when radical anti-American Shiite cleric Muqtada al-Sadr ordered his Mahdi Army fighters to stand down nationwide.
About the same time, the Khadra neighborhood Awakening Council rose up against brutal Al Qaeda control — the imposition of its austere interpretation of Islam, along with the murder and torture of those who would not comply.

I hadn’t thought of it this way….but I like it.
If Mr. Bush actually does make a strike against Iran, Mrs. Clinton will be the only leading Democrat to have played a cameo role in enabling it. If he doesn’t, she can no longer be arguing in the campaign crunch of fall 2008 that she is against rushing to war, because it would no longer be a rush. Her hand would be forced.
Mr. Biden got a well-deserved laugh Tuesday night when he said there are only three things in a Giuliani sentence: “a noun and a verb and 9/11.” But a year from now, after the public has been worn down by so many months more of effective White House propaganda, “America’s mayor” (or any of his similarly bellicose Republican rivals) will be offering voters the clearest possible choice, however perilous, about America’s future in the world.
Potentially facing that Republican may be a Democrat who is not in favor of rushing to war in Iran but, now as in 2002, may well be in favor of walking to war. In any event, she will not have been a leader in making the strenuous case for an alternative policy that defuses rather than escalates tensions with Tehran.
Noun + verb + 9/11 — also Mr. Bush’s strategy in 2004, lest we forget — would once again square off against a Democratic opponent who was for a pre-emptive war before being against it.

Yep. I’d be all overjoyed about it, except it’s kinda like becoming all excited about getting a refund from the IRS. “Hey, wait a minute, that was my money to begin with…..”
