An earthquake-wracked nuclear power plant was ordered closed indefinitely Wednesday amid growing anger over revelations that damage was much worse than initially announced and mounting international concern about Japan’s nuclear stewardship.
Toyota and other Japanese automakers, meanwhile, suspended production at factories across the country because a major parts supplier sustained damage from Monday’s magnitude-6.8 quake, which killed 10 people and left tens of thousands without power or water.
Tokyo Electric Power Co. warned that the nuclear plant shutdown could lead to power shortages in Japan. It has asked six other power companies to consider providing emergency electricity to prepare for rising demand from summer air conditioning, spokesman Hiroshi Itagaki said.

Why, I daresay that if those tens of thousands had prepared for a pandemic, they’d also have been ready for this nuclear waste leak!
Forgive my redundancy, but a fire in a nuclear reactor is not a good thing.
Japan really has no options as far as power is concerned. They have no huge coal or oil deposits so nuclear is the only game in town at this time. And in an earthquake-prone area, that’s not such a good option either. Going without power is a worse option.
There are other options.

A Nacogdoches man was in critical but stable condition after three surgeries aimed at saving him from a flesh-eating bacteria that infected him during a swim off the coast of Galveston County.
Steve Gilpatrick, 58, was diagnosed with necrotizing fasciitis, a tissue-destroying disease caused by a bacterium called Vibrio vulnificus, when he took ill three days after swimming during a July 8 fishing trip at Crystal Beach.

I know a lot of people just love the beach and the ocean, I was just never a fan. I’ve visited the beaches in different places, and it’s nice and all, but I have never understood the need to be near one.
Give me a nice deep blue lake, surrounded by pine trees any day.

Thanks.
I saw it right off. While those two vehicles share many parts, body panels aren’t among them.
There is a woman here, a young mother, who had both arms and legs amputated because of it.
I mean necrotizing fasciitis, not being blown up in a vehicle.
