  1. An oldie and a goodie.
I’m afraid you are getting stuck on Stevie.
Perhaps a little McKinley Morganfield is what you need?

  2. Yeah, I saved that one to “my favorites”
    thanks

  3. I don’t know if that’s a bad thing N2L, it’s about the only music Mrs. D and I can agree on. Just this morning I walked out on the deck and SRV was playing and I said how you and Nuke would be so proud….

  4. Dang, RD. She sounds like a keeper!

  5. Yup! I’m going to turn it up one more time because we are on the deck again…be back in a bit.

  6. Ain’t nothing against SRV, just don’t want to become redundant-redundant.
Good to see your nic there, Robert D., even if you forgot my nic’s abbreviation is n2l, N2L.

  7. Hey, Robert D!

  8. Course, there ain’t nothing wrong with Gatemouth Brown, either.

  9. Time for the big gun down, on Open Range.
    /brb

  10. Heh. Sounds like my paycheck. I like it. (The song, not the paycheck.)

  11. Yup, that’s another keeper for the favorites

  12. Hey n2l, I’ll remember that. But I usually use the caps on my friends. (btw, Robert D doesn’t have a period.) Sarah D does.

  13. SwampMan was snoozing in front of the television; as we had a late lunch, I figured he was not hungry. He re-educated me about that in a HURRY about 10 when he woke up, so I went ahead and grilled the extra-thick pork chops that had been marinating in mojo criollo, and dusted ‘em with some red pepper and garlic before grilling.

  14. Why be ordinary? Change it to Robert D!.

  15. Hey Swamps! We are here at the same time. Amazing…

  16. Hard to believe, ain’t it? Must be because we Ain’t Misbehavin’.

  17. I’m not having a lot of time to be misbehavin’, and I like it. It makes for better winters.

  18. Good for you. I’m glad that your work is going well. I’m going to be the blog token bag lady.

If this doesn’t just chap my butt. Full fat milk may be better for you than low fat. I’ve been drinking watery milk for the past few years and gaining weight anyway. I think it’s all those damn veggies. If you eat like a cow, you’ll look like a cow.

  19. Okay, they are all dead, and just the interpersonal stuff is left, so I can resume here.

  20. Well, dang. Guess I got caught in spam. Glad you’re doing well at work. Is everything still spontaneously bursting into flames out that way?

  21. Yeah, I don’t care about all the romantic stuff, just the killin’. I skip through to the good stuff.

  22. hmm, nothing in the spammer. Must have been sent off to blog netherland

  23. Just a bit here and there Swamps. It’s been well away from us so far.

  24. Dang, it was a link to a Telegraph story telling us that the old “drinking low-cal milk is better for you” is likely BS and full fat is better for you. I’ve been drinking that flavorless low-fat crap now for a few years, haven’t lost any weight from the change, and am likely not getting enough calcium because I do not like it.

  25. I found Swampie’s post in the filter, stuck between some phentermine, the worlds fastest indian, and some really long, thick black hair.

  26. Good to hear that, Robert D.

  27. The spam filter makes for some difficult chatting. What did we do to make it mad???

  28. I think it is in a search and destroy mode for me.

  29. Nothin’, Robert D, it just acts up sometimes.

  30. Henh!

Former veep and current environmentalist Al Gore spoke at UB in late April, and this prompted a few questions.

How much does Gore cost? Does he have to be picked up from the airport in a hybrid limousine? Does he insist on a hotel that runs on solar power?

UB gave the answers in response to a Freedom of Information Law request.

First, he doesn’t come cheap. Gore received a $100,000 fee.

The contract stipulated that UB pay for first-class airfare, a car service, accommodations and meals for Gore and an adviser.

Gore also approved in advance any related events, promotional material and “backdrops, banners, scenery, logos, settings, etc.”

It even spelled out the time Gore spent signing posters for sponsors — 10 minutes — and his need for 30 minutes of downtime before talking.

No hybrids or solar power specified, so UB was able to meet every requirement except one: Gore’s request for “absolute confidentiality” for the contract’s terms and conditions.

  31. That long black hair remark makes me wonder what the deal is with all the dyed black beards in the Middle East. Wonder what’s up with that? At least it keeps the expensive dermatologists here busy when they get an allergic reaction to paraphenylenediamine.

  32. spammer has been getting quite a workout.
Averaging about 200 spam comments per day.

  33. #30 n2l
    Dang. Just Dang.
That is a thread all by itself!

  34. I think it will probably get sent to wytammic for next friday’s COTW.

  35. The filter does get a work out. Besides being the world’s fastest indian, he has amazing endurance, too.

  36. It wasn’t a comment, it was a copy and paste from here.

  37. I don’t seem to find where he asked for veggies grown organically in a natural clearing in the forest and then carried by hand to his accommodations, either.

I would just love for one of those organizations to hand over bicycles for him and his entourage, and direct them to the campground where their tents would be located.

  38. Gore is just a snake oil salesman. He should join Cindy Shitcan on the “Has Been” tour.

  39. At least he didn’t ask for a bowl of blue only M&M’s.
Maybe he should use Iggy Pop’s rider for appearances.

  40. Sheehag isn’t a has been, she is the future Congresswoman from SanFran. Now that she sold her land and is flush with cash.

  41. Who is it that has to have all the brown M&Ms removed?

  42. Yeah, that should be a hoot! Shehag against the the Botox Queen. Shehag is just a joke….

  43. I don’t remember, Swampie, but that was what I was making fun of.

  44. All I know is that for some reason the green ones are good.

  45. Did you see the really-really-really-really whacked-out leftard that ran against the SanFran Palomino last year?
    She makes Sheehag look sane.

  46. I wonder what’s with all the trackbacks from VH?

  47. I never look at the M&M’s, I just scarf.

  48. Have you followed the linkage on vh’s trackbacks?
I wonder if she is switching her blog over to another hosting service.

  49. When I was traveling for work, I did require a room with microwave/fridge/iron/ironing board, a desk to work at, an internet hookup, soft bed, decent continental breakfasts, a good restaurant so I didn’t have to go searching because I would be making calls and doing paperwork after dinner and didn’t want to waste time wandering around in search of anything, and an exercise room/gym.

Wish I would have thought of the bowl of M&Ms.

  50. Don’t you mean flushed her cash instead of flush with cash?

  51. that’s what it is. Her address has changed. I’ll update the link in the sidebar.

  52. If you haven’t seen it, the Iggy Pop contract rider is hysterical…all eighteen pages of it.
    He doesn’t forget a thing.
    /henh

  53. Nuke, you ever hear of conservablog before?
    News to me.

  54. No. It’s a new one on me. Here’s her new digs
    http://conservablogs.com/velvethammer/

  55. As long as you have it in the roll, I’m good.

  56. Hmmmmm. Conservablogs.

  57. G’nite all….check in later.

  58. G’night, Robert D.

I’m gonna sign off too. I’m going to try and force myself to put in more hours of zzzzzzs.

  59. Night Robert Dee.
    /henh
He must be going back out on the deck.
Betty Davis asked the question, long ago.
“What’s going on out there you don’wan’me’ta’see?

  60.

  61. Wait…what?
Swampie is going to crash before el nuko and I?
    Is ol’Beezelbub wearing a parka?

  62. Nite y’all.
Good to have everybody here. Cept vimto.
    Hey vimto, come see us

  63. Well, enjoyed y’all’s company and thoughts.
I guess I will start shutting things down, and dream of the breakfast tacos I’m gonna fix in the a.m.
    /night

  64. Yeah…where is that Welch rascal?
Don’t tell me we have to have another missing person thread.
    /night

  65. just got in a mess of home grown maters.
Breakfast is mater gravy and biskits, with a lot of black coffee. MMMMMMmmmmm

  66. Hmmm.
I’ve never had maters before noon, I don’t think.
    Whatever floats your Bertram.

  67. Well, texas is more western than southern

  68. Man do I need those maters. Living in the mountains just slows things down a bit. Most is good, mater growing is not. G’nite again…..

  69. Yeah, but I’m from East Texas, with strong connections with Louisiana, and raised those bad boys most of my life…still.
We used to have steak and eggs, or ham and eggs with grits, for breakfast, with our biscuits sopped in Steen’s Pure Cane syrup, or home made jellies, jams, or preserves.
Mater gravy? Never heard of such, but then I never would have thought of some of the things people ate, until I got around a little.
    It’s all coolness, with me.
    /really gone
