Ziggy nuke dust and the spider lillies from mars

patio2-004.jpg

Last year at this time, I thought I would give this blogging thing a try. So, I opened a Blogger™ account, and experimented a little bit.

Here is my first entry.

Impressive, huh?

The past year has been quite an experience.  Blogging, as it turns out, takes up more time than I thought it would.  But the experiences have been worth it.  Especially the people.

N2l, SwampWoman, Vimto, Robert D:  y’all are da bomb.  Thanks for everything you do.

Oh, by the way, Mrs. Nuke’s spider lillies are looking pretty good.  Click on the picture to enlarge.

  1. Q:
Will you be live blogging the MLB All Star game this year?

  2. I’m looking for Bonds to belt one out into McCovy Cove.

  3. Uhh…have you ever live blogged the MLB All-Star game?
    And if so…why?

Has it been a year, el nuko?
When did we first cross pixels, was it about three years ago at lgf?
Then we hung out together some at gcp, but things got really weird last summer…in a hurry.
Glad I was able to find your address and visit. And thanks for the opportunity to share some thoughts and memories, with dashes of risque humor, on your space. I appreciate it.

So that’s what a spider lilly looks like.

  4. BTW, it took one hour and thirty five minutes, to run spybot, antispyware, and antivirus, to find the medium level tracking cookie that was hiding in the weeds. I knew something was hiding there, so had to shut it down, and do a whole bunch of maintenance while I had it on the run.
Now I remember why I always run those programs as I head off to bed.

  5. Nite, bud

  6. Thanks to you too, wytammic and mick. I appreciate the work y’all put into your sites. Glad to have made your acquaintance over the past year.

  7. Jumpin up and down..what bout me..what about me..haha
Congrads Nuke! and no2L and Vit..and your whole blog familia~! :)

  8. Angel, you keep a lot of us going, whether you know it or not.

  9. It’s a blast heading over hear. And ditto that about the great Angel:)

There truly is not a day that goes by that I don’t actually laugh out loud at work or wherever I am after reading a comment by that swampwoman. Seriously, she’s lucky I haven’t spewed coffee out my nose.

  10. Well, I have spewed coffee out my nose, but she’s lucky it hasn’t hit the keyboard ;)

  11. Oh, great, now I have to be careful so that wytammic doesn’t declare a fatwa on me!

  12. It’s been great, Nuke! I appreciate all the work you put into your blog and the sacrifices of your “spare time” (whatever that is) that you put into it. I do feel guilty that I am the anti-intellectual redneck of the group and have been thinking that I should start thinking and interacting on a higher plane, but I’m kinda skeered of heights.

  13. Daughter just called me with plans for my day off. I am to bring over an electric sander, a paintbrush, the best cleaner/whitener for tile, dishwashing detergent, a 4″ paintbrush, and the latest Janet Evanovich book that I made the mistake of telling her that I bought last week.

This does not sound relaxing. It also does not sound like I will ever see them again.

  14. Those are beautiful flowers. I have no more flowers. I brought some flowers home from my mom’s place 2 weeks ago (she has a HUGE green thumb) and planted them in my raised brick planter hoping that they would be safe. The chickens ate them.

I *used* to have daylilies everywhere. The late great Checkers got out into the yard one day and ate all the flowers. I went out to put him back in the pasture, and he could not see because his eyes were swollen shut and his head was about twice its normal size. Sigh. A mobile vet came out and gave him injections of some antihistamine more costly by weight than gold, and he recovered. Then the sheep grazed them into oblivion. They (sheep) have eaten the holly. They have destroyed the remaining azaleas. The roses. The little shrubberies around the porch. The caladiums. The elephant ears. All gone.

The sheep, however, are more reliable at mowing than SwampMan and have probably destroyed fewer flowers/shrubberies over the year because he does not like to weedeat around flowerbeds/bushes. He goes right over the top.

  15. You don’t even link back to a blog that can be fatwahed (is that a word?) :)

  16. I’m not sure whether or not fatwahed is a word. I better consult my Imam for guidance. Oh wait, I don’t have one. It will have to be my Magic 8 Ball. Magic 8 Ball said without a doubt. Magic 8 Ball knows all. When I asked if I should quit my job and live under a bridge, Magic 8 Ball said it didn’t think so. When I asked Magic 8 Ball if I should dance nekkid in the moonlight in my front yard, it said yes, which just goes to show it is not infallible.

  17. aw..thanks Nukester and Wy!..:)

  18. A Belated but Very Happy Blogo-versary!

  19. thanks david.
