Tiger Tiger – potential terrror target.

Good morning America.

So another day another bomb plot. I have included Islam in the categories of this story though I don’t have any evidence as such, just the usual suspects….. The British radio is giving out very few details. Central London is gridlocked. A major attack has been averted. Thank the Lord.

Find the news on the front of Nukes blog or on page 33 of the NYT!

Police defused a “potentially viable explosive device” in a car in Central London in the early hours of this morning, after what appeared to be an attempted terrorist attack against a nightclub in the heart of the capital.

The silver Mercedes was discovered in the Haymarket area, after police were contacted at 2am with concerns about a suspicious car.

Witnesses said that the vehicle contained two gas canisters and nails were on the floor of the boot. They added that the car had been driven into a series of bins outside a nightclub in the area called Tiger Tiger.

The driver of the car was then seen to have jumped out of the car and run away. It is believed that a nightclub bouncer then went to investigate the empty car, and called police after believing it was suspicious. A massive manhunt for the driver of the vehicle is under way.

Update: Double decker bus on Park Lane being investigated; possible bomb.

Correction, it is not the bus, but another car that is involved.  Authorities are saying that both incidents are linked.

  1. Well, it could just be a disgruntled customer that got kicked out earlier, or he might have a personal vendetta against trash bins, or it could be he ran off only because he was badly in need of a W.C.
Or, it could be a case of a jihadi that couldn’t shoot straight.
I’m sure we will discover the vehicle was stolen.
Regardless, I’m certainly glad that this is one of those times when no innocents were harmed.
Vimto, page 33? Perhaps, but I do love it when you express such optimism.

  2. – all info now points to a very serious attack averted.

I got Rory Gallagers ‘Top Priority’ the other week. It’s the first time my lad has listened to Blues. The track ‘Philby’ is sooo good and it links in with British political history.

The rain expected in the UK over the weekend will be cruel – especially as the water table is high already. I’m due to take our fellowhip to Evesham. Sounds like a suicide mission. Have to re-think.

  3. This bouncer was one alert pro. That was a premeditated terrorist plot, meant to hill and ultimately hurt London’s economy. This is one of many “incidents” that will never be labled Islamo terrorist plot.

  4. Well vimto, the IRA hasn’t done this sort of thing for quite some time now, have they.
So, to say that this is an islamic plot really isn’t that much of a stretch. Thank goodness it was discovered in time.

  5. Thank God for the alertness and quick thinking of that bouncer. He must have a good head on his shoulders.

  6. What is sad, though, is how many comments I have read on websites saying that this is just alarmist and some sort of governmental plot to scare the populace, the bomb really wasn’t that big, etc.

I suppose the suicide bomb has to actually go off and kill hundreds if not thousands to get somebody’s attention, and there still would be apologists blaming the government for it.

  7. There were a few hero’s in this – the cop who grabbed the mobile to stop the detonation and the bomb sqaud officer who defused the bomb by hand rather than lose evidence with a controlled explosion.

    Have a good week Nuke!

  8. Oh that’s right, there was a mobile detonator. If that does not smack of an Islam related car bomb, what does?
