In the last six months, agents along the Southwest border caught 15 people from Iran, 35 from Pakistan, 12 from Jordan, two from Syria and five from Lebanon. Conservatives have been deeply disappointed with the Administration’s half-hearted efforts to provide Border Security. We’ve also been more than just a little puzzled with the actions of US Attorney Johnny Sutton, whose over-zealous prosecution of Border Agents has led to the controversial imprisonment of Agents Compean and Ramos, and the prosecution of a Sheriff’s Deputy, while protecting dope dealers and illegal immigrants.
It’s time for Sutton to go.
On June 30, the San Antonio and Austin Chapters of the Minuteman Civil Defense Corps. and hundreds of bikers from American Freedom Riders — a group dedicated to stopping illegal immigration from coming across the border — will surround Sutton’s office at high noon and call for him to resign.
More than 1,000 people are expected to rally Saturday outside the offices of U.S. Attorney Johnny Sutton in San Antonio to demand his termination and protest his “malicious prosecution” of law-enforcement officers who sought to arrest illegal aliens.

*sigh* Wish I could be there.
My senator didn’t respond to my E-mails or phone calls on the immigration bill. I wonder why? I was just reading NRO’s the Corner, and this is what Byron York writes:
that’s good news!
Is Your zip code represented on the Secure Borders Now map? Mine is.
Sutton serves at the behest of the President. The Atty General is a Texan
SwampWoman
I’ve been on Mel’s ass for months. No reply and I can’t blame him. He’s got this anchor tied around his neck. No way out.
OTOH, heard Sen. Demint saying that at least 5 Senators that he knows are bailing on the immigration bill just because of the way it’s being forced down their throats
If I have to campaign for and vote for a Democrat, I’ll do it just to make sure Mel is not re-elected.
Yeah, I don’t suppose the Prez would go out of his way to fire Sutton. If enough Texans raised hell, though, he might have to do something.
Sutton should resign and save the President this headache.
I’m a little upset that the border patrol, all of them, haven’t raised a HUGE protest about this.
Fresh pickings from the Cube
Human rights group, Human Rights Right This Minute! (HRRTM) has condemned what it calls “inappropriate remarks bordering on racism and bigotry” that came from an English journalist Joe Snuffy as he was beheaded on a recently surfaced Al Qaeda video. The official transcript of the tape attributes to Mr. Snuffy the following statement: “Islam and Mo…” While the rest of the message was censored by Western news agencies out of respect for non-Western religions, human rights watchdogs at HRRTM claim that with the help of hired lip-reading and body-language experts they reconstructed Mr. Snuffy’s statement, which appears to contain inflammatory hate speech. “Just as we had suspected all along,” says spokesbeing for HRRTM Sarah Fulano.
Again, this loose border is a huge problem that has been happening for a long time. There is a *Syrian in town who came in across the Mexican border several years ago.
*Now married to a U.S. citizen (that he pays a large sum to monthly) and legal.
I was reading a link from Mike C at GCP about Conoco Phillips and Exxon Mobil’s decision to walk on Chavez’s demands and was wondering if they would continue to refine Venezuelan oil. Sounds like the answer may be no, as Conoco Phillips, at any rate, is looking to increase output/development of the Canadian tar sands.
got to head in early tonite. long day tomorrow. Nite y’all
On the other hand, this report forecasts a bright future (not a glowing future, a bright future) for Venezuela, and how it will probably be the richest country in Latin America in 10 years.
Somehow, I doubt that.
I’ve been hearing rumblings about the protest of Sutton for a few days, now. Since he can only be hired and fired by W, don’t know if this will do any good, but at least the anal sphincter will get some sunshine on his pale and pasty arse.
As for Senators, I can only grumble and complain about all of y’alls Senators, mine are with the program.
House Republicans oppose immigration bill.
“Resolved, the House GOP Conference disapproves of the Senate immigration bill.”

G’nite, Nuke. I should be in bed myself; my company was asking me to work tonight, but after a day spent hauling grandchildren around, all I wanted to do was relax and surf the net.
Well, look who showed up on “Softball” tonight. None other than the Silky Pony, and he’s
angryconcerned.Coulter Is Crazy!
What were his outstanding qualifications to get that job in the first place, n2l? Was he a big legal star in Texas?
Awwwwwwwww. Shouldn’t he be out courting the San Francisco transsexual vote instead of attacking a woman that has bigger gonads than he does and can make him look even more foolish than he has already made himself look?
Don’t ask me, I never heard of the guy, until a few months ago.
Well, if you never heard of him, he couldn’t have been that big a legal eagle.
Immigration Measure in Doubt Over Senate Defections.
Well, I quit being lazy and looked up his CV: Politician.
Prior to becoming United States Attorney, Mr. Sutton served as an Associate Deputy Attorney General at the U.S. Department of Justice in Washington, D.C., and as a Policy Coordinator for the Bush-Cheney Transition Team assigned to the Department of Justice.
Mr. Sutton served as the Criminal Justice Policy Director for then-Governor George W. Bush from 1995-2000, advising the Governor on all criminal justice issues, with specific oversight in the areas of criminal law, prison capacity and management, parole operations and legislative initiatives.

So that’s his bio, eh?

Holy sh**, did they just say rub everybody’s noses into the fact that this was a whitewash to bring in more illegals by making sure that employers did not have to certify that the employees were, in fact, legal?
That pretty much sums it up, don’t it?
It’s things like that, that are turning so many Senators off, and all but guarantee this bill, as such, will fail.
The amendment package was presented yesterday, and is available in pdf, if you want. It’s only 350 pages.
Attorney for Flying Imams Has Motion Denied.
/boo-hoo
Yeah, but I’m listening to Jim Demint saying that one of the amendments itself is over 300 pages, and they are not getting the chance to read it and actually do not even know what is in the bill. He says that they will be getting a new amendment today that will be over 400 pages long to vote on tomorrow.
Good God, objections to reading the amendment. This is a travesty.
Top legislative aides in both parties predicted today’s vote would be very close but would fall short of keeping the proposal alive.
He said that nobody will actually know what is in it when they vote on it, and things that they were told specifically were in it were removed.
Sounds pretty sneaky to me.
I know, the pdf is set up differently, though.
Did you hear or hear about the conversation Sean Hannity had with Sen. Voinovich today?
The Senator hung up in a snit.
I keep getting error messages on WordPress and maintenance screens. Is it just me?
Uh uh, I didn’t hear a thing, the FM talk radio station was off the air today. Hope it will be back up tomorrow. Once I had access to a computer, the only thing on was Michael Savage, and I don’t care for his commentary.
I have heard Sessions say that talk show hosts are better informed about the contents of the bill than some senators.
No, I’ve been getting those too.
Voinovich is an idiot. Sean asked him if he was in favor of the Fairness Doctrine, and he said he was, until he realized that Sean was opposed to it, and Sean had to explain what it was to him.(zah?)
Then they went on for awhile about the Immigration Bill, and the Sen. was all “NO ONE INTIMIDATES SENATOR VOINOVICH.” Referring to us loud ones. Sean asked him if he had read the whole thing, and had he or anyone in the Senator tried to cost it out, or looked at the cost projections that the Heritage Foundation had done. The Sen. got all pissy, and said I will talk to you again when we can a reasonable discussion…then hung up.
So the message from long time Senators is…”Don’t You People Dare Question Us… We Are Senators!!!”
And when they were all attorneys out in private practice, would something like this be accepted from the other side, unread?
I don’t care for Michael Savage much, either. Every now and then I will click on his show, and try and listen to him, but I have heard him go off before, and listen with dread, knowing he will again, and click him off.
At night, when I’m in my buggy, I have been listening to, and enjoying Dennis Miller’s show. It’s different, in a refreshing, intelligent, and funny way.
Apparently these people just trade projects for votes without even realizing what they are voting about.
This is crap.
It’s the same ram job it was a month ago, and I don’t know why they would think we would like the taste better now than then.
I mean, they didn’t even sprinkle any A-1 sauce or picante on it.
I understand deal making is the order of the day, but this isn’t a postage stamp we are discussing.
This could literally change politics, and daily life, in this country forever.
I’ll have to look for it; I don’t think it is carried here. I tried to listen to Savage Nation once, and my immediate reaction was “anal sphincter”.
Something this important should at least be read; the fact that the time isn’t being allowed indicates to me that there are some incredibly serious deficiencies and misrepresentations about the contents of the bill.
Well, dang, my last comment vanished into oblivion. Probably my guardian angel trying to save me from libel charges.
This bill, and the obstinate behavior we are seeing from republican Senators on this, makes me wonder what’s in it for them.
Somebody check Soros’ checkbook.
I don’t know where it went, Swampie.
I looked around the filter for it, below the viagra, under the worlds fastest indian, and behind the sissy maid dresses, and it was no where to be found.
I had one of those error messages pop up when I was trying to send it; I think it just got blipped out.
Well, maybe it’s our innernut nanny, telling us to take our blips to bed.
Well, apparently they were voting for something that they did not even have a copy of, n2l. I have lost a lot of respect for the current administration over this, and wonder why he couldn’t have expended the same energy over reforming the social security system.
Snort. Yeah, I guess my blip really ought to be in bed.
Did you hear what Tony Blair’s wife said when they were finally leaving office, today?
Henh…Goodbye!
I Don’t Think We Will Miss You!
I’ve said the same thing. Back when he had a lot of political capital, he just let it collect cob webs, when he could have been pushing for SocSec reform.
See ya’tamale, then.
Buenos nachos.
I was admiring the truck of the owner of a local Mexican restaurant (immigration status very uncertain) with the RedNeck Mexican sticker, the big tires, and the horn that played “Dixie”. I’d, uh, say he’d assimilated remarkably well.
Read Billions for Z Visas, Not a Cent for Security at Powerline.
Dang, Swampie!
I just emailed this to everybody I know.
Why doesn’t it surprise me that the four billion dollar bribe was more lies?
It’s just so blatant! Senators are told that they are voting on one thing, whereas the information that they have been given is inaccurate (aka “lies”).
I’m so angry at Martinez that things are spontaneously bursting into flame around but as a freshman Republican senator, perhaps he thinks that supporting the President on this is the right thing to do.
News that makes you go “huh?”
President George W. Bush has lost lost support of the Conservatives who put him in office and stood by him. His latest bouts of insanity on illegal aliens and submitting to Islam have completely done him in. This country needs
Some dirt and background on Sutton, y’all.
The House of Death
When 12 bodies were found buried in the garden of a Mexican house, it seemed like a case of drug-linked killings. But the trail led to Washington and a cover-up that went right to the top. David Rose reports from El Paso
Meanwhile the El Paso Ice office reported the matter to headquarters in Washington. The information went up the chain of command, eventually reaching America’s Deputy Assistant Attorney General, John G. Malcolm. It passed through the office of Johnny Sutton, the US Attorney for Western Texas – a close associate of George W. Bush. When Bush was Texas governor, Sutton spent five years as his director of criminal justice policy. After Bush became President, Sutton became legal policy co-ordinator in the White House transition team, working with another Bush Texas colleague, Alberto Gonzalez, the present US Attorney General.
Earlier this year Sutton was appointed chairman of the Attorney General’s advisory committee which, says the official website, ‘plays a significant role in determining policies and programmes of the department and in carrying out the national goals set by the President and the Attorney General’. Sutton’s position as US Attorney for Western Texas is further evidence of his long friendship with the President – falling into his jurisdiction is Midland, the town where Bush grew up, and Crawford, the site of Bush’s beloved ranch.
Interesting, is it not?
Dang I should of quote blocked the text.
