Hillary calls for a mulligan

In last week’s Democrat debate, one candidate actually showed some testosterone on the subject of National Security. Yesterday, realizing that the strong rhetoric left her uncomfortably alone on the Peace Train, Hillary Rodham-Clinton decided to join former klansman Robert Byrd in calling for a “do-over” on the 2002 war authorization vote (Public Law 107-243; Oct 16, 2002).

Kum-Bah-Yah, baby, Kum-bah-yah.

Mrs. Clinton’s proposal brings her full circle on Iraq — she supported the war measure five years ago — and it sharpens her own political positioning at a time when Democrats are vying to confront the White House.

“It is time to reverse the failed policies of President Bush and to end this war as soon as possible,”

Former Senator John Edwards has repudiated his vote for the war….“Congress should stand its ground and not back down to him,” Mr. Edwards said. “They should send him the same bill he just vetoed, one that supports our troops, ends the war and brings them home.” …

Senator Barack Obama of Illinois, who was not in Congress at the time of the vote, cites his consistent opposition to the war. Mr. Obama issued a statement on Thursday evening indicating that he would support the effort by Mrs. Clinton and Mr. Byrd.

Gov. Bill Richardson of New Mexico, beating Mrs. Clinton to the punch, called on Congress on Tuesday to withdraw authorization and develop a schedule for the rapid withdrawal of troops.

In February, Senator Joseph R. Biden Jr. of Delaware, another presidential contender, also raised the prospect of rewriting the authorization to give American forces a much more limited role in Iraq, but that approach ran into resistance from Democrats who said it could be perceived as giving new authority for the war.

  1. Fore! Ha! hillary had better not expect a ‘gimme’. Politicians could take a few lessons from the great game of Golf. One can not change the ethics or rules to suit oneself. And under no circumstances should hillary be allowed to ‘play through’ She is a hacker. Her scorecard is questionable, and should be looked at real close, by an official. And look at the shape she has left the greens in, divots galore. lamo

Pardon my lame attemt at humor. :P

  2. Good stuff. Sports analogies are very cool on Fridays!

  3. Hillary calls for a mulligan

  4. Wait!
I thought mulligan was a stew.
    Golf is a sport?
    /thought it was an…activity

  5. Mulligan IS a stew, golf IS NOT a sport. I’ve heard it said that the only real true sports are bullfighting and motor racing, though it’s hard for the bull to fight when it’s bleeding to death. Let’s slice the bullfighter too!

  6. Robert D, is that really you? (sniffle) We MISSED you!

  7. Rodeo is the only real sport!

  8. Dang, should the people who aspire to be CIC be in a foot race to get as much room between themselves and actual conflict as possible, and then get in a nasty scuffle over who can hoist that white flag the highest? Apparently they think they’re running for President of Belgium.

/These are the same people who are too afraid to be on Fox because they might get hard questions.

  9. It’s me it’s me, it’s Robert D. (old Andy Griffith theme) Yes Swamps, rodeo is a sport too, and one I like. And on topic… They are still COWARDS.

  10. I’m not sure they even know whether they are cowards are not. Whatever the latest poll seems to suggest is the one they run in front of and adopt that position. Bunch of hollow people that basically don’t even remember what they believe in.

  11. The only thing they believe in is staying in office, or ascending the ladder. It’s a shame they don’t believe in the oath of office they took.

  12. They are hollow, but they remember very well. It’s the LLL base they are playing too. They are the one’s giving them money and support. As soon as they can ditch their opponents, they will run to the center, and try and fool as many uninformed voters as possible, and if they win, they will then reward the leftards and cast aside the others, as they aren’t true believers anyway. Unless they can throw enough money at them, like Pelosi’s Pig Farm.
Make no mistake, they aren’t stupid, they aren’t rudderless, they just know who gives them the most support, and run in that direction. Whatever they say to get power, will be forgotten, and they can just lie, equivocate, waffle, afterwards. The masses have a short memory.

  13. Oh, and Swampie, I’m gonna treat Robert D. like a cat treats a human, when they’ve been gone too long. I’ll stay just out of reach, with my back turned…for a little while.

  14. And Swamps, I’ll treat N2L the same. Dine and Dash….

  15. Wait a minute!
Rodeo isn’t a sport, it’s an event, comprised of numerous activities.
    Hunting…now that’s a sport.

  16. Hey, the open thread is the hydrogen splitting one.
    How’s about we migrate….mmmmmkay?

  17. Hunting is a sport only if they can shoot back.

  18. Alright, you two tom cats, I don’t wanna see no scratchin’ and spittin’ goin’ on here.

Just got a call from the daughter who told me her OB/GYN appointment went well, and could we go to the Shrimp Festival tomorrow? HELL NO! She’s got a week of gestation left, and there is no way I think she should be walking long distances and elbowing her way through crowds.
