Fake but Accurate™, Part deux

CBS, the network of Rathergate and Mary Mapes, has pulled another boner, and Dan Rather must be laughing from his grave.

A CBS News producer was fired and the network apologized after a Katie Couric video essay on libraries was found to be plagiarized from The Wall Street Journal.

The essay was removed from the CBS Web site and an editor’s note was posted saying the item should have credited Jeffrey Zaslow of the Journal, the network said Tuesday.

The essays are carried regularly on “Couric & Co.,” the anchor’s blog on the CBS News Web site. Couric and producers meet once a week to decide on topics and the producers write them for Couric to read on camera.

An editor for The Wall Street Journal called CBS News to point out the similarities of the April 4 notebook item to Zaslow’s article, headlined “Of the Places You’ll Go, Is the Library Still One of Them?” The pieces talk about how libraries are seen differently by children from their parents.

“We were horrified,” CBS News spokeswoman Sandra Genelius said. “It was almost verbatim.” source

Well, I’m shocked, I tell ya’. Just shocked.
By the way, Dan Rather isn’t dead yet, he just looks that way.

  1. Senator Bill Nelson (Chickenshit, Florida) is expressing his “concern” over television that Florida will not be able to go through the hurricane season with some of the guard serving overseas, despite the fact that the general that was interviewed says they are ready and will be fine, and can easily replace the equipment by borrowing what they need from units out of state. Nope, ol’ Bill says the general is wrong, and of course Bill has vast amounts of military knowledge from his prior service…oh, wait, he’s a Democrat.

  2. Funny that Bill didn’t have any of these “concerns” until right now.

  3. Katie!!!
Say it ain’t so you nappyheaded finely coiffed ho’.

  4. Wow! What well-mannered, well-spoken people responding. I can see why no one is talking back to you. You should try anger management therapy, asap. Thanks for your well thought-out, educated input. Have a nice day!

  5. Don’t let the door hit you in your flat liberal ass on the way out, np.
Already had a nice day, with plans for a nice weekend too.
You got something to say about the perky Katie and her entourage, or are you just trying to avoid the whole liberal Dhimmicrats are vacuous notion?
    Tah!

  6. If you are being payed 15 million dollars a year to report the news, I think a little research and active participation by Katie is required. Because it is being made to look like it is coming from her. It is to easy to fire the other person and say I didn’t know. If it comes out right then Katie takes credit for it. And makes a whole lot of dough in the process.
