Friday Night Fried

This one was posted on the Gathering of Eagles thread, and it’s just too cool for school. Carl Perkins from 1958, Dixie Fried. (h/t n2l)

housekeeping note: I’m going to be doing some research on blog hosting (yes, it’s time to consider a paid hosting service) over the weekend. I’m open to suggestions. Please leave your thoughts on this thread.

Nite y’all

  1. I don’t fully understand what the advantages are to a paid hosting service.
Seems there is a great deal of utility with wordpress, and they don’t go crashing like some of the others have recently, and is easy to register to post, unlike some of the others.

BTW, I can’t believe a die-hard Elvis fan would post a Carl Perkins vid. LOL!
E’vis must be rattlin’n'rollin’ in his grave.

  2. I’m thinking of keeping the WordPress software, but taking it to a paid host. That will give us access to a host of plug-ins and widgets, including javascript, that are verboten on wordpress.com
As of now, I can’t really add many features that I would like to because of the restrictions. Plus, if I spend $20 or so, I can buy the domain nukegingrich.com, and make the blog easier to find.
Next time you are looking at the stats page, notice the search engine requests for “nuke gingrich” and you’ll see what I mean.

  3. The Carl Perkins vid was just too good to pass up. The King understands.

  4. Well of course you know, there was and still is, some controversy over who was the father of Rockabilly, and the Carl Perkins crowd is very vocal about it, especially since he never went ‘glam’.
I’ve seen the search term for nuke gingrich pop-up some recently. You gonna sell ad space if you switch?

I repeat the question I raised on another thread, anybody seen the alleged interview with Sen. Hussein Obama that will air on 60 minutes tonight?
    Here’s a preview and analysis.

  5. saturday nite 60 min? billary won’t like that.
I anticipate seething to begin in 5….4…..3
Don’t know about ads. I’ve had two emails from people wanting to advertise here for $25/month. I thnked them for their interest, but declined (of course wordpress.com doesn’t allow ads)

  6. Plus, I’m not sure what allowing ads will do to fair usage laws especially with photos. I post a lot of pics that I find on the net, but since I’m not using them for commercial purposes, I don’t run afoul of the law. If I take advertising, I don’t know if I will have to restrict photo usage.

  7. OOPS!
This is Saturday, isn’t it. That’s right, I have pancakes on Sunday, so the 60 minute program will be on Sunday.
Good point on the fair usage thingie. Posting pix adds so much to the stories.

  8. I liked that Carl Perkins vid also, but found one I really like.
If you thought the CP vid was too cool for school, then this one is slicker than whale poop in an ice flow.

  9. Oh yeah. I’ll save that one for tonite!

On another note, I get to pick up my late Christmas gift (or maybe it’s my Valentine Day’s gift) next Tuesday. It’s a Ruger .22 target pistol. Very cool.

  10. OOH-OOH!
How about linkage on the pistola, for drooling purposes.

  11. Did you see that discussion your Zebra post caused on Gun Broker?
    /henh

  12. Well, since you asked, LINK

  13. Interesting discussion. Sad that because this is not a liberal website it is not considered credible.
    Hahahahaha

  14. That was for the liberals in their midst benefit.
    LOL!

  15. So which of the two are you getting?

  16. 22/45 Mk III

  17. The Hunter or the Bull?

  18. p4mk
    the one on the top

  19. Cool!
Be sure and get some extra magazines for it. You also might want to consider a red-dot sight for it, as the shorter barrel doesn’t give you as much sight radius. This one or this one will do the trick.
General note for anyone with a semi-auto of any kind, never leave the magazine fully loaded for any extended period of time, as the compression on the magazine spring will cause permanent damage. For any autoloaders you keep ready for action, only load the mag halfway, with several in the same condition for back-up.

  20. OH CHIT!

  21. I like the red dot thingy.

  22. I have a BSA red-dot sight on my AR, and it is marvelous!

  23. Robert D., ROTFL!
I mention that tidbit periodically, and someone always goes, OH CHIT!
It’s true, my friend. All of the little springs involved in firearms have to be considered, at all times. Also, never leave a gun cocked, especially a semi-auto, as the firing pin spring will become compressed. I always keep a dummy round in my firearms that need to be ‘fired’ after cleaning, so I can release the pressure on the spring, without damaging the firing pin spring through distension, when I pull the trigger.

  24. is it difficult to calibrate?

  25. #28-nuke
No, not at all. Just like any optic, there are windage and elevation adjustments. For a .22LR, go for a zero at 50yds, so you will have a reference point if you need to hold over or under a shot.

  26.

  27. OK n2l, gets the large head. 2 posts in a row hit BOTD top 50 Heh™ Congratulations, bud

  28. Alright! We have a Celebratey here….

  29. No Chit?
    /dang…what do I do now?

  30. Celebrate, I guess. Go shoot some guns. At targets. That explode!

  31. Henh.
Can’t go to the range today. Haven’t got jack done, and need to run to the store, so I can eat early and hang with y’all tonight.

  32. Sounds like a plan….
